Trains in Panama

In 1855 completed work of the train between Panama and Colon the first transcontinental line. It was originally built to carry passengers on their way to the gold fields in California from the East Coast of USA. It is still used for transporting goods and passengers up today and is the most modern trains throughout Central America.

In the far northwest of Panama worked until 2005 a transport service between Garabito on the border with Costa Rica and Admiral. Today all that remains are a few railway bridges, including the border between Costa Rica and Panama, rails scattered in a different location and stations cleaned up awaiting a new destination (see gallery).
